Onkyo Executive Shelf System w/Single Disc CD player CS315S

Onkyo CS315S Executive Shelf System with Single Disc CD player Specifications

The biggest challenge for compact audio systems is to take any music genre and reproduce a detailed, balanced audio output. If we judge the CS-315 CD receiver system on that basis alone, we have a winner. Anchored around Onkyo’s Wide Range Amplifier Technology (WRAT), the CS-315 excels in revealing the nuance of CDs or MP3 tracks recorded to disc. Another outstanding option is to team it up with Onkyo’s RI Dock for the iPod® to bring audio fidelity to all digital music files stored on your PC. Looking as good as it sounds, the CS-315 is enhanced by its striking front aluminum panel and vibration-reducing build. Don’t forget its versatile mobility—this system will easily slot into most spaces that you choose. Forming a competent audio chain with the distinctive D-N7BX 2-way, bass reflex speakers, you can expect the CS-315 to create all the right impressions wherever you place it.

Key technology Features:
WRAT (Wide Range Amp Technology): Imagine turning up the volume and filling your entertainment room with noise-free, impressively powerful, true-to-life sound. That's the benefit of Wide Range Amplifier Technology. Originally developed for our most expensive high-end amplifiers to handle the sonic demands of today's digital age, you'll now find WRAT even in our lowest-priced A/V receivers. The WRAT family of technologies includes a broader frequency range with lower noise entering the signal path – perfectly suited for new high resolution DVD-Audio and SACD formats.

MP3 Playback:
This audio format achieves about a 10:1 compression over conventional CD audio. What does this mean? You can store many more songs using the same amount of space. For example, a standard 650MB CD can hold more than 200 songs in MP3 format. Various bitrates allow for higher or lower quality, depending on the desired sound quality of the final recording.

Customer Review

Best Customer Review : System delivers great sound, but the speakers are on the large size - good for sound, but not so good if you're short on space. The big surprise is how deep the speakers are (11.5 high by 6.5 wide by 9.5 deep). Another drawback is that the CD player does not do a fast forward or reverse scan without the remote (it will skip forward/back by track).

All that I really needed was a CD player (not a radio receiver), and if this is the case for you, consider the Bose Companion 2 Series II speakers for . These are self-amplified (which means they need a nearby wall plug for power) and they will plug right into a portable CD player or a laptop computer. This is what I should have done, as they are cheaper, smaller, and produce adequate sound for my kitchen.

Customer Review 1 : Excellent System - Henry Han - Flushing, NY United States
Clear and crisp sound. Powerful enough for any bedroom or a medium size living room. Highly recommended!

Customer Review 2 : Great quality sound - Monica Falco -
I bought the Onkyo 315 due to the great quality of sound I got in my recently purchased Onkyo Home Theater and I couldn't be happier. I am becoming a fan. I have found out that Onkyo receivers and amplifiers offer a variety of solutions that compete with most expensive devices. Onkyo is an affordable great quality of sound brand.

Onkyo Single Disc Universal HDMI/RS232 player DVSP504S

Onkyo DVSP504S Universal HDMI/RS232 Single Disc DVD Player Specifications

Comfortably Delivering Video with HD Quality to the Latest HDTVs and A/V Receivers
With most entry-level DVD players, you’re only able to watch video playback in standard definition. If you’ve already invested in an HDTV or planning to in the near future, the DV-SP404S will take standard DVDs to high-definition quality by converting to 720p or 1080i through the High Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) on the rear. Also, with a 108 MHz/12-bit video DAC supporting progressive scan, you’re assured of spectacular viewing time-after-time. The DV-SP404 will do what you expect from higher-priced players, and it will also serve as a capable playback device for all your audio sources from your own CD library or computer-based digital files. Easily matched with AV receivers up to the high-end range, the DV-SP404 is a worthy addition to any home entertainment system.

Key technology Features:
DTS-ES 96/24: There are two DTS®-ES™ (Extended Surround) formats: DTS®-ES™ Discrete 6.1 and DTS®-ES™ Matrix 6.1. The DTS®-ES™ Discrete 6.1 format is, as the name implies, a 6.1-channel system with a discrete back surround channel, while DTS®-ES™ Matrix 6.1, like Dolby® Digital Surround EX™, provides a matrix-encoded back surround channel. There’s also DTS® Neo:6, which derives a 6-channel surround output from a stereo soundtrack, and regular DTS®, which, like Dolby® Digital, is a discrete 5.1-channel system, but which uses less compression than Dolby® Digital. Receivers carrying the ""96/24"" designation are able to decode a new high-resolution audio format, DTS-96/24. This breakthrough allows for high quality, 5.1 channel audio encoded at 96kHz/24-bit resolution to be stored on a DVD-Video disc (or the DVD-Video portion of a DVD-Audio disc). This format is compatible with all DVD players, with those able to pass a 96kHz signal providing the highest quality output (DTS-96/24 is also backwards compatible with older 48kHz DVD player models).

Dolby Digital: DVD players with this logo are capable of transmitting a Dolby Digital signal (in coaxial and/or optical format) to a receiver or processor. The receiver or processor must be able to decode Dolby Digital signals to properly reproduce the audio.

JPG: JPG is a standard image format used in today's digital cameras and personal computers. DVD players that carry this logo are able to read CD-R/RWs that contain JPG image information and display slide shows on your television (such as recent vacations, family photos, etc.).

Progressive Scan: By "painting" an entire frame at once, scan-lines commonly associated with interlaced video are drastically reduced. The result is a spectacularly clear image with no motion artifacts, and details so sharp they seem as if they’re etched onto the screen.

HDMI: HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) This high-bandwidth interface supports not only brilliant digital video, but digital audio as well. Up to 5 Gbps of data—more than twice what’s needed for a high-definition movie with surround sound—can be handled, with room for future requirements. All this data is kept in the digital domain, as there are no D/A or A/D conversions needed, to ensure the highest sound and video quality available.

MP3: This audio format achieves about a 10:1 compression over conventional CD audio. What does this mean? You can store many more songs using the same amount of space. For example, a standard 650MB CD can hold more than 200 songs in MP3 format. Various bitrates allow for higher or lower quality, depending on the desired sound quality of the final recording.

VLSC: Conventional D/A conversion methods reduce digital pulse noise at the conversion stage but can’t remove it completely. Previously only found on our high-end components, VLSC (Vector Linear Shaping Circuitry) employs a unique D/A conversion circuit to overcome this problem. Data is converted between sampling points and these points are joined with analog vectors in real-time to produce a smooth output wave form. The result — a virtually noiseless, smooth analog signal based on the digital source to bring out even the most subtle of nuances in your music, movie soundtracks and even MP3s!

SACD: Are you ready for a brand new music listening experience? 5.1 channel Super Audio CD represents the best music has to offer. Direct Stream Digital™ recording technology is a drastic improvement over Compact Disc, both in technology and sound quality. Thanks to multichannel sound, it doesn't just appear as if the musicians are playing in your living room. It sounds as if you're transported from your living room into the original performance space.

Customer Review

Best Customer Review : Image's mint!
Better if you connect it through an Onkyo A/V receiver like HT-S6100 or up.
SACD is as good as it gets. If you can spend a bit more than a custom DVD player & HTiB, this is the player to get.
I tried Like a rolling stone both in CD & SACD and there is no mistake.
Great for music lovers!
No cons I can see.

Customer Review 2 : Amazing, simply amazing - Gabriel Rodriguez -
What a DVD player... outstanding.
Nice, good performance, simply excellent.
You should buy it.
The only bad feature of it... it only reads Region 1, so, if you use to travel around the world and buy DVD's everywhere (as myself) this is not the DVD you are looking for.

Onkyo 5.1 HDMI HTIB w/ Single Disc Dvd HTS894

Onkyo HTS894 5.1 Channel Complete Home Theater System w/ Single Disc DVD Specifications

Integrating Everything You Need—And Then Some—Into One Complete System
The appeal of a complete home theater system—easy to set up, all-inclusive and ready to go—is obvious to all. The reality can be all too often a deflating experience—weak, lifeless audio with few playback options and integration. The HT-S894 complete 5.1-channel home theater system has a different approach: provide HDTV connectivity through High-Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) and component video (with upconversion); inspired amplifier design; room acoustic correction; and compatibility with the soon-to-be-released high-definition DVD discs, XM Radio and the iPod®. By blending convenience with functionality, the HT-S894 is a perfect entry point for compelling home entertainment.

Special Features

  • HDMI Simple Solution: 2 Input / 1 Output on AVR, 1 output on DVD--No need for myriad of cables!
  • Slim, wall mountable 5.1 speaker system with 230W powerd subwoofer

Key Technology Features

Key technology Features:192 kHz/24bit AD Converters: Costly, extremely powerful digital-to-analog converters , that not only boast a dynamic range of 120 dB, they process information faster and are virtually resistant to clock jitter, to ensure the best possible performance from DVD-Audio, DVD-Video and audio CD.

CinemaFILTER: The tonal balance of a film soundtrack can be edgy and bright when played back over audio equipment in your home—this is because film soundtracks are designed to be played back in large theaters, using commercial equipment. Onkyo has developed its own solution that restores the correct tonal balance of a movie soundtrack in the smaller environs of your home theater.

Component Video Upconversion: Converts incoming composite & S-Video signals (like a VCR to S-Video equipped TV) all the way to Component on most models. A Time-Base Correction circuit prevents picture distortion due to instabilities in the video source signal.

Dolby Digital EX / Pro-Logic IIx: Home theater realism reaches new heights with the creation of Dolby Digital EX. By adding a matrix-encoded surround back channel derived from the existing discrete left and right surround channels, the lack of rear surround in 5.1 channel is eliminated. The result - a fuller 360ยบ experience is created…even from 5.1-channel DVD releases. Best results are obtained when Dolby Digital EX is used with movie soundtracks recorded with Dolby Digital Surround EX. Pro-Logic IIx is the latest improvement on the original Pro-Logic and subsequent Pro-Logic II standards. Pro-Logic IIx adds post-processing to 5.1 channel and stereo signals, creating a realistic 7.1 channel surround environment from 5.1 channel movies and stereo sources, such as CD, Tape, FM Radio.

DTS-ES 96/24 Neo6: There are two DTS®-ES™ (Extended Surround) formats: DTS®-ES™ Discrete 6.1 and DTS®-ES™ Matrix 6.1. Receivers carrying the "96/24" designation are able to decode a new high-resolution audio format, DTS-96/24.

XM HD Surround: XM Satellite Radio is America's number one satellite radio service. It offers 160 digital channels, including 68 commercial-free, diverse music channels; more than 40 channels of premier sports, talk, comedy, children's and entertainment programming; and 21 channels of traffic and weather information. Simply plug an XM Passport System into your XM Ready A/V receiver, and activate the service to start receiving uninterrupted radio programming of your choice. Now, in conjunction with Neural Audio, XM Satellite Radio offers XM HD Surround, which provides 5.1-channel surround sound on selected programming.

XM Ready: The XM "Connect-and-Play," is a revolutionary technology platform designed to integrate XM into virtually any home or portable consumer electronics entertainment device. By matching XM Ready® audio systems with a simple, elegant antenna/receiver, getting XM becomes even easier for home audio listeners.

NeuralSurround: Neural Surround™ represents the latest advancement in surround technology developed for music and is adopted by XM Satellite Radio for digital radio broadcast of surround recordings and live events in surround sound. Neural Surround™ employs psychoacoustic frequency domain processing which allows delivery of a more detailed sound stage with superior channel separation and localization of audio elements. System playback is scalable from 5.1 to 7.1 multi channel surround playback.

Audyssey EQ: While the convenience and ease of set-up of a matched home theater package is undeniably attractive, many obstacles stand in the way of high-quality performance. In any home theater space, walls, furniture and other objects reflect and absorb sound creating distortion. Designed to work with systems that include speakers, Audyssey EQ is activated by pressing the dedicated button on the accompanying remote control. This pre-calibrated solution was created in the Audyssey laboratories, and the end user does not need to go through the whole process. And while most systems only address frequency response, Audyssey EQ also focuses on the time domain (where most of the problems lie) in the entire listening area. The results are immediately obvious.

HDMI is fully backward compatible with PCs,displays and consumer electronics devices incorporating the Digital Visual Interface (DVI) standard. Both HDMI and DVI were pioneered by Silicon Image and are based on TMDS®, Silicon Image's powerful, high-speed, serial link technology. HDMI supports standard, enhanced, or high-definition video, plus multi-channel digital audio on a single cable. It transmits all ATSC HDTV standards and supports 8-channel digital audio, and with 5 Gbps of bandwidth, HDMI can accommodate future enhancements and requirements. Because HDMI was designed specifically for consumer electronics applications, it offers an array of additional consumer enhancements. As digital content can manifest itself in a variety of sizes, resolutions and formats, HDMI-enabled systems will automatically configure to display content in the most effective format. In addition, HDMI enables a single remote point and click, allowing manufacturers to deliver home theater systems that automatically configure from a single command from a remote control -- turning on or off the components necessary to view a DVD, listen to a CD, or watch cable or satellite TV.

Supported Formates: DVD, MP3, JPG, DivX, WMA.

Customer Review

Best Customer Review : I've gotten some serious migraines from all the hdmi issues with compatibility until i got this system to complete my gamers paradise. I started four days ago with a Sony strdg510 receiver to replace my old pioneer 5.1 from 2005. To make it simple after two days of frustration and a new Sony sub in trying to get my ps3 and 360 to work with the digital out i sold the Sony garbage since even with a new sub my gaming didn't have any LFE output. When I got the Onkyo HTS94 home I was really hesitant on the hdmi features of the receiver but after some time spent fiddling with the remote i found the hdmi audio on option located in the hardware setup. For the FIRST time i heard hdmi audio on anything besides my Regza lcd. The first thing i did was i threw in NIN Blu ray to test if i had setup the wiring right and discovered i only had the surround right working and it sounded better than my old Pioneer 5.1 and the Sony put together. Word of advice "Take Your Time" setting up the wiring on the speakers so you get it done right the first time. My only complaints like someone else said was the first time setup guide didn't work on my hdmi so i had to resort to the manual and use the receiver as my display for configuration instead if displaying on the tv but a few days later i found out it works on the component input of the receiver. The ps3 now has many more real sound options with this receiver i mean before i've only known it to do 3 sound options now i have 11 options and don't have to use bitstream for a full surround PCM experience and my 360 is run through hdmi 2 so now i have a free hdmi input on my regza and best of all now i don't have to switch optical cables back forth like i did with the Pioneer due to the hdmi audio actually doing what it's supposed to do. All of my major components were easily setup and it can all be accessed with a click of a button through my Logitech remote. I've never heard the full potential of movies and games from the ps3 or the 360 until now. I couldn't be anymore satisfied with this Onkyo system and would recommend it to any gamer or blu ray fan.

Customer Review 1 : Home theater - F. Burns - Pahrump, Nevada United States
This has great sound. A little difficult to set up and coordinate. I am still learning.
