Customer Review

Best Customer Review : I have had this Receiver now close to 9 Months.

Through those months it has been nothing, but Spectacular!

I was very hesitant in replacing my SONY ES3000 Receiver with an Onkyo. But from doing research, and with help from my brother (who has been an Onkyo fan for years) I decided to give it a try.

Man, the difference in sound quality and power are night and day. With the Onkyo, I am able to hear subtle effects from different channels in the movies, even at very low volumes! That was impossible with the Sony.

I found out also that Most Receivers, like the Sony, only put out around 1/2 of their Rated Power in 7.1 Surround Mode. Not the Onkyo! It puts out the rated, and even more at times! Especially in 2 Channel Stereo Mode!

There is no Audible White Noise (Hiss) that I can hear with the volume on High! (heard alot of white noise with the Sony).

I won't go into the "Technical" details in this review, but just wanted to say that I am very very much pleased with switching to Onkyo!
Here are a few reasons the Negative Comments here about the 906 are Unjustified: (It's Hotter than most, yes, but so is my Computer I built from Scratch! - But both give high performance, and my Computer has been doing so for quite a while now):

[...]

I own one and am definitely impressed!

(Just a note I see the Same "EXACT Copies" of these rare bad review comments floating around on the NET on different sites, so most likely they work for the competing brands, and are engaging in false Negative Marketing)

Customer Review 1 : EXCELLENT !! - S. SABO - Ballico, CA
First off, I'm not a tech freak but I do consider myself above average.. I have had Blu-ray Players since the beginning of them.. I have a Sony BDP-S1 & a Sharp HP-20u.. This 906 was easier to set up than I thought it was going to be.. Hooked up my Sony Blu-Ray but couldn't get HD sound.. Called Onkyo they were great he tried to change the settings on the Sony but it still wouldn't get HD sound.. Long story short he said some earlier Models of Blu-Ray players wouldn't put out HD sound without going back the the MFG. like Sony to get them to change the settings.. I didn't want to go through that hassle.. So I did some research on Amazon and found the new Onkyo DV-BD507 Blu-Ray player.. According to Onkyo the two were a seamless connection.. That was a unstatement I hooked up the BD507 Blu-Ray player and WOW all I had to do was to make a few setting changes and I was totally amazed at the HD sound and picture which was beyond EXCELLENT and the up scaling to 1080P excellent.. I hooked this up to my Sharp LC-46D-64U

Thanks Amazon for the great price on the Onkyo receiver & Onkyo Blu-Ray player and Onkyo tech Support

Customer Review 2 : Great Receiver / Home network - M. Widner - Afghanistan
I was a bit overwhelmed at first but after a couple of hours setting everything up and getting it tuned in....This baby rocks! Completely satisfied. It is heavy as crap but it ain't crap. I replaced my bose life style with this and jbl speakers. Very tight combination. Looks great. Price is a bit steep but in this case, you get what you pay for and that is about everything. Unless we go to some new age alien technology, I think this unit will last me a very very long time. Get it and you will see...don't and you won't.
