Onkyo 6 Channel HTIB HTS590

Onkyo HTS590 5.1 Channel Component Home Theater Audio System Specifications

Displaying every quality you’d want from a home theater receiver package—versatility, user friendliness, and quality sound—the HT-S590 should be given serious consideration. Versatile in its ability to take all your components for output to HDTV; user friendly in its ease of set-up and operation; and quality in sound from its balanced blend of controlled power and competent digital signal processing. With a combined 650 watts power output, this package packs the drive and power to make your home entertainment a memorable experience. The HT-R340 5.1-channel receiver shares a similar amplification design as Onkyo’s separate home theater receivers. Also, the accompanying HTP-340 speaker package’s compactness enables you to bring this package to a range of different room sizes.

Key technology Features:
192 kHz/24bit AD Converters: Costly, extremely powerful digital-to-analog converters , that not only boast a dynamic range of 120 dB, they process information faster and are virtually resistant to clock jitter, to ensure the best possible performance from DVD-Audio, DVD-Video and audio CD.

CinemaFILTER: The tonal balance of a film soundtrack can be edgy and bright when played back over audio equipment in your home—this is because film soundtracks are designed to be played back in large theaters, using commercial equipment. Onkyo has developed its own solution that restores the correct tonal balance of a movie soundtrack in the smaller environs of your home theater.

Dolby Digital / Pro-Logic II: Dolby Digital is a discrete 5.1 channel audio format for movies and music. Pro-Logic II is the latest improvement on the original Pro-Logic standard. Pro-Logic II provides a full-range signal to the five main channels, in addition to a subwoofer channel. This creates a realistic surround environment from a two-channel source, such as CD, Tape, FM Radio, etc.

RI (Remote Interactive): With Onkyo’s exclusive RI (Remote Interactive) system capability, you can integrate and operate all compatible components through a single remote control. What’s more, RI capability enables you to simply connect the iPod® to your receiver through Onkyo’s RI Dock for the iPod (DS-A1). Your iPod effectively becomes another Onkyo component from which you can relish a fuller sound that just can’t be experienced through headphones. RI capability will also give you remote operability of your iPod for hands-off control over your digital music.

Customer Review

Best Customer Review : ~~Please keep in mind this is not a 00 BOSE system"

I got this brand new for 0 in December 2006. So it was the cheapest HTS you could find that came with a stand alone receiver (a basic receiver even costs over 0, right?). The setup was very easy and straight forward, the cables were conveniently color-coated. And the best part-INPUTS...so many of them...I have it connected to the following: TV, DVD player, XBOX, mp3 player, PC and a projector. Apart from the regular AV inputs, this has 3 RGB component inputs and 2 optical fiber audio inputs (1 for my DVD player & 1 for my PC). And of course it has FM tuner. It is almost impossible to find a receiver with so many options for under 0, let alone a HTS. This practically saved my life by integrating all my devices that were purchased with out considering which would go with what. The speakers and the sub do have room for improvement. But they don't look cheap and the quality is way above acceptable for the price. This is more than enough for an apartment living room or even a decent home theater that does not require rocking the walls.

Once again, I only paid 0 for this and it works. So I can't complain

IMHO - get some better quality shielded speaker cables, use the optical fiber cable for your dvd player...

Customer Review 1 : Doubt you could do better for the price - R. Siegfried -
I very much enjoy mine. It is hard to find a system for this price that sounds good and is reliable. I have had others in the price range that were poor.
Pros
Price, made by an audio company, solid electronics with plenty of sound shaping options, good remote, reliable, optical and digital inputs, Good sound. Comes with most of the cables, has Stereo mode for use with older recordings. Can be upgraded.
Cons
Sub woofer not powered (although there is a mode that makes it sound like it is),Front L&R speakers small for loud music. Full size receiver/amp takes up room.
In a price range where most systems are terrible this one is good. As with most lower price systems the shortcomings are in the speakers. The receiver/amp is good enough to handle later upgraded speakers. Since I listen to music a lot I replaced the front L&R speakers with a set of good audio monitors that I had already and they work great. The unpowered sub woofer is normally barely noticeable but if you want big theater sound there is an OR-EQ mode that will disturb the neighbors if you want. For the money you cant beat it.
